Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Since 31/07/10 have not been able to use the "Compose" or "Reply"
sections of gmail with FF 3.6.7, which was installed using kubuntu
Synaptic, so I'm "guessing" the download is from the Ubuntu repository.

The Text Body section of gmail remains blank, with only the wavy red
lines indicating spelling errors showing on the screen; it will not
accept text from the keyboard in either Reply or Compose modes.
Reloading, restarting FF or gmail does NOT work. If I want to send gmail
now, I have to use another browser. This does not seem to affect other
aspects of Google ... only GM.

Ubuntu 9.04

>From the reporting:
The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make your bug report much more complete. Thanks!

 - - - I haven't a CLUE what this means . . . I'm not about to
ferreting about for a whole bunch of info; this programme sought out
info about my system, etc, on start-up - why wasn't it transferred to
this? I'm a USER, I'm not a geek ... don't expect me to do geeky things
beyond synaptic installations, etc. That's what you guys are for.
