Yes it should be the case. This was just an example simple to reproduce.
I will check if this is the same with an nvidia card, but I think it's not.

There are other issue with that like as for example :
- high cpu usage while playing flash that run better on Microsoft's OS.
- very slow performance on UT2004 game (5fps), wheras it can be played on Windows (15fps). This game (that use OpenGL), run at similary speed on Win32 and Ubuntu with an ati or nvidia card (and propriatary driver).
- Video aren't played at same speed using the same mplayer on Win32 and Ubuntu.
