This sounds similar to a firefox bug causing 50% cpu usage when firefox
was loading a fifo page (bug 106199).  High Xorg CPU usage by an
application does not necessarily indicate an Xorg bug - usually it means
the application is stuck in a loop calling an xorg call (such as
continually redrawing a blank page).  Refiling for mozilla-thunderbird.
