answer nevertheless...

If it isn't in the menu, perhaps it has no menu entry. Try running it
from the terminal and if it works (ie, the package is correctly
installed but isn't in the menu) report a bug on
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/, if there isn't already one about
it.

Ubuntu doesn't only focus on having the latest releases; stability is
way more important. So, a few months before a new Ubuntu release comes
out we enter in "Feature Freeze"; that is, no new features (including
new versions of applications) are allowed to enter unless there's a
good reason why we would want them. This is done in order that those
applications can be properly tested.
