It is my unfortunate duty to announce that Andrea Veri has become
sufficiently involved in other activities to no longer be able to
dedicate time to being a Ubuntu Universe Sponsors administrator.
Andrea joined the UUS administrators shortly after the 7.10 release,
was instrumental in helping transition the team from the founding
members to the rotating body it is today, and recruited several
sponsors who remain active today. Many thanks for the hard work.
Consequently, there is now an opening on the team, and volunteers
are needed to help with the work. The duties of the Ubuntu Universe
Sponsors adminstrators include:
1: Adding new sponsors to the sponsors group on request (or restoring
membership when it has expired without renewal)
2: Helping sponsors with questions on procedure, mechanisms, etc.
3: Maintaining the documentation for both sponsors and those seeking sponsoring
4: Participation in any discussions affecting the procedures or
policies involved in package update sponsorship
5: Oversight of sponsoring queue size, and assistance in increasing throughput
If you are interested, please reply to this mail with a brief
summary of your sponsoring experience, your available hours to support
sponsors (preference will be extended to those able to provide
coverage for 15:00 - 22:00 UTC), and your thoughts on how to improve
the sponsoring experience for all participants. If you are not
volunteering, and you think one of the volunteers is especially
well-suited or poorly-suited to the role, please reply to that
volunteer's submission. Starting from 17th August, a selection will
be made from the volunteers (although neither the selection process
nor the timeframe for selection is yet established).
