Hi efto,

Ubuntu isn't designed to install random files from the internet.

I would suggest that you read the following link
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories

And from that look at what software you want to install, and check
whether its available in the supported Ubuntu repositories first.

Once you've had a look at that, it should answer most of the questions
you're starting from.

As Alanbell said, this isn't really a support mailing list, you may well
be better using our IRC channels
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InternetRelayChat and joining #ubuntu
as the main support channel, or using www.askubuntu.com as a
messageboard support network.

Regards

Dave
