as i said earlier, have seen this work

however i posted this to ubuntu forums and the solution is actually
pretty simple

at step 8  of Ubuntu installation- one must simply disable
installation of boot loader

then using a BCD editor (inside windows) one makes sure there is an
entry to the Ubuntu boot setup (see

easy peasy - atleast if it works

so will let you know once i do the needful, now to get the cloning
thingy in order
