HI Gunnar,
I've received allot of constructive feedback on this topic and a few
others I had questions on also.
Unfortunately, I've put most of the things I had in the pipeline on
hold, as I think there are several major issues which need to be
resolved before any real progress can be made on Desktop help.
Work is being judged against a standard / policy the contributors cannot
validate against before submission, basically it does not exist, or if
it does, I can't find it. The work-flow is unclear regarding redress or
reworking of material. The styles guide is, for the most part, obsolete
for Desktop Help. I've already covered the build process issues in the
Wiki, enough said there. The latest revision of the SG I could find was
mid 2011, so thats a wash. There are references to the Gnome guide, but
is that what should be used for the Unity DE ..
There are some 370+ pages in the source tree /C/. most of which need
some level of attention, one way or another, yet very few updates seem
to be making back in the tree, more of an input problem I suspect,
rather than output.
Until the structural problems are resolved, I'm not sure how productive
volunteer contributors, those not familiar with the system of the past,
can be.
In any case, there's plenty of work to be done for 14.04, so I'm getting
on with those chores, but will keep an eye on how things progress here.
