Empathy Chat Logging

Dear Ubuntu Developers,

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to send this request, but the
website says it is for feature and policy discussions.

Basically, I just wanted to say that the inability to turn off
conversation logging in Empathy is an application killer for me. I think
that a lot of people would prefer not to use Empathy until it allows for
one's conversations to not be automatically logged by default.

It's not a huge deal, as I'll just continue using Pidgin, but I wanted
to throw in a vote for that change. The client looks nice otherwise, but
I value my privacy too much to use it in its current state. I also do
not use unencrypted messaging, so Empathy's refusal to support
off-the-record is difficult to accept. I agree that it would be great if
encryption was done natively in the protocol, but that leaves
privacy-conscious users in the dark until AIM, Yahoo, MSN, GChat, etc
all decide to implement it.

Brian
