There is a related development issue. Hervé Fache replied to Matt
Zimmerman's original post very late (around the 27th of August) with
results for the k7 optimised kernel which seemed to suggest that the
situation was different than for 686 vs. generic, but no one ever
commented on this, and it appears that the k7 kernel was removed on the
basis of only the 686 results. Has anyone looked at the newer k7
results? One result under load was around 1000 sec for generic vs.
around 500 seconds for k7, which seems rather significant.
