CD image size recovery suggestions

Ubuntu has more than one goal, and more than one target audience. The
small amount of space occupied by vim is well worth avoiding the "what
the hell is this" factor from long-time Unix users (who are often
influential early adopters) upon encountering a Unix with no vi
installed by default.

This crusade against vim puzzles me. There are many less intrusive and
more productive ways to save space on the CD.
