Fade to black in xscreensaver and Gnome

WOW !!! You are right, I did indeed see a very nice (perfect, as it
should be), fade out ! Nothing like the crap I am seeing everywhere else
in the system, this one was just perfect, both smooth and fast ! :o)))
So there is good code already in there then, just need to re-use it
everywhere now ! :-)
