This is the ethernet chip, which probably explains why you have no network.

Fan control probably won't apply unless this is a laptop/recent-desktop.
Perhaps the 'FATAL!!!' should be toned down.

Can you track down which places you get sound and which you don't; is 'esd'
running?

If it's shared memory, the default about of memory may not be enough for X
to believe it can manage the full resolution; or X doesn't believe the
display can cope with the higher resolution.
