Problem on repository

I everybody,
I don't know if this is the right e-mail address to address this problem 
but anyway I have a lot of trouble to install or download or upgrade 
packages in my system. The problem is not the tool, is the same with 
apt, synaptic, adept.... the problem is the following:

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/breezy/universe/binary-i386/Packages.gz: 
Sub-process gzip returned an error code (1)
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/breezy/multiverse/binary-i386/Packages.gz: 
Sub-process gzip returned an error code (1)

I have tried to download and unpak the above files directly from the web 
and all worked fine, so where is the problem?

Also some time i have to stop and retry more times the same lists of 
packages download becouse the download process loos the connection after 
some time.

What I have to do?
