I know, but gnomebaker does audio cd burning equally well if not
better than serpentine. Both gnomebaker and serpentine were considered
as a solution for burning audio discs.

But when you are in your favourite (audio) cd burning program you
would generally expect to be able to do it from there as well...

Why isn't it a good idea?

It can do it, and that is cool, but gnomebaker provides more
functionality, for instance you can see how much space you have left
on the cd/dvd.

But serpentine can't do it... (and you can use cdrw's for audio right?
don't know because I haven't used cdrw's for that purpose)

It is probably a nautilus-cd-burner bug, it is listed in HAL, but I
can't write discs with nautilus either.

Should be, does that mean can do it? It isn't listed in the preferences dialog.
Two more advantages of gnomebaker I found:
- has a help file
- can write 22 minute audio discs (those small size cd's)
