Shutdown notification... Where to implement?

Quite interesting indeed..
I've had a look at gnome-power-manager and it seems to be the kind of things 
it does... I never go it to work on my computer however so I really can't 
tell (I didn't put much efforts into it).
As usual nothing is undoable but unabling cancellation would require some 
work as acpi shutdown is currently handled only at beetween the kernel space 
and root levels.
