Remote Worskpace-Switcher Default Panel Config

Devs are working on dramatically improving the usability of
workspace-switcher in Gnome, as seen at
http://www.gnome.org/~seth/blog/xshots .

I think that improvements to the applet is a better option than removing
it completely. Thoughts?
