Spatial mess prevention

That's my fear exactly, that this kind of change is done by/for people
who have not warmed up to or understood the advantages of spatial
interfaces yet. I care deeply about this, because spatial Nautilus is
the one thing that improved my workflow the most during the last
years.

Apart from the fact that this is quite a bold change so close to
release, I do not think it's a good default for some reasons:

1) I just discovered that close-behind finally works for documents,
this is great! However, with ubuntu-spatial, the behavior of folders
and documents is now completely reversed. Talk about confusion! And
this can't easily be changed by reverting the behavior for documents
too, or would you like to have your pictures folder close each time you
view a picture?

2) It really sets the wrong message for new users, who don't know the
relevant shortcuts yet. One of the important attributes of spatial
folders is, that it's trivial to interact between them. You almost lose
this feature if it becomes impossible to open sub folders without
closing the parent at the same time.
The browser is already optimized for navigating, spatial folders OTOH
focus on the actual file management. I think it's a really bad idea to
make spatial folders suck less for navigating, while making them suck
more for file management at the same time.

3) If I forget to use shift or middleclick, it's no big deal if I have
to close another window, but it's very irritating if I just closed my
working folder. This is especially irritating in consideration of point
1. Usually, the least destructive function should be the default.

I tried this behavior for a while and I certainly agree that it makes
_navigating_ in spatial folders more convenient, but I do not think
that this weights up to the disadvantages. Providing this option might
be a nice service (I'm not sure if it should go into upstream though),
but please reconsider the default setting.

Sorry for the fuss, I just care very deeply. ;)

Daniel
