I don't think that a wiki page for HardwareSupport is that a good idea

Actually we would probably want more than just a check box, ie that says
this hardware is supported, it would make more sense to allow one to say
how the hardware is supported or any extra tweaks that need to be done
to make things work right. (even if it is only a link to the wiki
although I don't think the wiki FAQ has target tags in it)

An example of this would be my Thinkpad, for it to shut down properly, I
need to put a acpi=force into the grub configuration for it to work
right. This should be listed under supported hardware. And also any
querks should be listed as well such as third mouse button does other
things instead of acting like a scroll mouse.

I agree this would be a good idea but needs to be expanded a little bit.
It would also be nice to have hardware broken down into , PC, Laptop,
modems, usb devices, network cards, wireless cards, etc. Each with a
supported/not supported out of the box and then possibly comments on how
to get it to work if possible, etc.

Seen as this a web application and not part of the ubuntu distribution,
would it have to be written in python?
