libgnome download

Hi all,

I've got a newbie devel question:

I'm trying to compile gnopernicus v0.9.14 because I can't get the 
Magnifier in the Ubuntu version to work (at v0.8.4-2). I've downloaded 
the sources from gnome FTP and ran ./configure and gradually installed 
the missing bits. But when I get to libgnome2, the download fails in 
Synaptic, and my progress is halted. Should I apt-get the equivalent 
package from debian or wait for it to work from the ubuntu repository?
