Ubuntu 14.10 and libtiff4

Hi;

I have a Canon Pixma MG6250 multifunction printer and have recently
updated to Ubuntu 14.10 from 14.04.

I do not have full control of the MG6250 functions that I used to have
under Ubuntu 14.04 and downloaded the Canon Linux driver for the device
from the Canon website. Unfortunately, this driver will not install
because it cannot locate the dependency libtiff4 from Ubuntu 14.10, and
I cannot locate libtiff4 from the Ubuntu package location. I can locate
libtiff5, however this is not compatible with the Ubuntu 14.10
installation because of the problem accessing libtiff4, i.e.) libtiff5
does not appear to be compatible with the Canon MG6250 dependency upon
libtiff4.

If I try downloading libtiff4, the Ubuntu 14.10 package installation
facility crashes before installing libtiff4. Is this because Ubuntu
14.10 is no longer able to install libtiff4? Libtiff4 does not have an
install script as libtiff5 does; if Ubuntu 14.10 can still install
libtiff4 how can I install it without an install script?

Any assistance with this problem will be much appreciated.

Regards;

Nick Kenney
Ubuntu 14.10 user.
