Idea #1242: Restoring the bootloader by Ubuntu installation CD

This idea seems fairly easy to implement and has over 4000 votes. I
have attached a simplistic prototype script that I have used a few
times to successfully restore my MBR.

It has a few obvious limitations, but the real issue is how we'd
integrate it with the live CD. Even just adding it as a script to be
run from the command line would IMHO be much better than having
thousands of howtos on the net many of which are out of date and all a
bit scary.

Another minor issue would be how to structure the UI. I guess either
whiptail or pyGTK would be a good choice. Whiptail would probably be
simpler, and could be run without X.
