Change in Ubuntu Development Team meeting schedule

Hello everyone,

We have a quick announcement to make regarding the regular Ubuntu
Development Team meetings. Traditionally, these meetings have been
happening on a weekly basis, but as many of you will be aware, the
meeting has grown very large in terms of the number of people relative
to the content of the meeting, which makes it less productive. We'll
continue to review status on a weekly basis (which is done by email and
wiki anyway), but will only actually hold a full development team
meeting every four weeks.

After some discussion at the last distro sprint with the entire distro
team, and with the consideration of these issues, it was decided to
change the Ubuntu Development Team meetings so they are held on a
monthly basis. This offers the following advantages:

 * Fewer meetings for those people who can't attend every weekly
meeting.
 * More focused meetings - when you have few meetings, they become more
important and people generally pay more attention to those meetings.
 * Greater emphasis on email discussions, so that folks in other time
zones can participate more easily.

The obvious downside is that we will have fewer meetings. While the
decision is to have few meetings, nothing is ever cast in stone, and if
there are compelling reasons to have more meetings, we can always
re-evaluate this decision at a later date.

Thanks for your understanding, and if there are any concerns about this
new schedule, please raise them at the next Ubuntu Development Team
meeting which is scheduled for 8pm UTC on Thu 16th Aug 2007 in
#ubuntu-meeting on Freenode.
