Is there a chance that this will have any effect on dapper?

If not, then I have some other things to do first.

I do a bit with presentations, and recording the screen output is an issue. I
am starting a search for a device that will go between a VGA port and projector,
and let me record the signal in it's "native res" (not dumbed down to TV res.)

For the Ubuntu Live CD, the virtual machine is probably the best bet.
