Keep in mind that ZFS is both open source and copy-left. In fact, it's
closer to the GPL in nature than most open source licenses. This is not
a question of open vs. closed, aas no closed-source software is involved.

The SFC's opinion is basically that combining these two free and open
source licensed projects (ZFS and Linux) together in Ubuntu is not allowed.
