Thanks Maurice.
It has taken me this long to "get my feet wet" with some version of Linux,
and I chose Ubuntu based on an article I read on ZDNET. While the Ubuntu GUI
makes it easy to get going, I fully plan to "get under the hood" . Your
recommendation sounds great.
As an experienced Windows user, I've been admiring Linux for years, but was
never certain where and when to jump on. I like Ubuntu, and hopefully this
book will send me on my way..........
Cheers,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Based on very positive reviews, I just purchased Beginning Ubuntu Linux from
Novice to Professional by Keir Thomas. It came today and looks to be a
worthwhile reference. Cost was $29 all up according to the invoice that
came with the book. I brought it through Amazon.ca
Hope this helps,
Maurice
