I can understand the frustration of these binary blobs for usual/cheap
desktop/laptop users. But please do not be so harsh about it. It's not
the Linux' fault that some hardware company do not play nicely with
other OSes than Windows. Linux devs try hard to make it all happen but
without the help of the actual vendor it is a difficult task.
I know users do not care (or even know) about other OSes than Windows
that can be run on their device. They just buy one which runs Windows
out-of-the-box. Sadly, it is also true sometimes when users need to
re-install/rescue a Windows machine, they have to go through the
painful hunting process of preferred driver for their hardware.
