Do fingerprint readers work in Ubuntu

Hi list,

A query that isn't totally Ubuntu-AU related but perhaps of interest to some.

I am looking at getting a Dell XPS m1330.  It is a nice machine and I
was planning on configuring it with a fingerprint reader (for fun more
than anything).  I was wandering though, do these readers work in
Linux/Ubuntu?  I did some research on the web and it seems like they
do with some work, but perhaps Ubuntu has done that work for me.

A couple of other related questions:
1) Anyone got an m1330 yet?  Have you tried it with Ubuntu?
2) Anyone know of another 12.1/13.3" laptop that is pretty good with
games (i.e. dedicated and recent nVidia gfx card) but also has a
docking station (which the m1330 doesn't).
