Xunbuntu6.10 and Ubuntu 6.10 from a Newbie

Tony, during the install, did you reformat the Xubuntu partition or did
it "upgrade" the Xubuntu installation?

Perhaps, open Synaptic and check if the "ubuntu-desktop" meta-package is
installed.  If it isn't please install that before proceeding.

You should not need to add Nautilus.  Add the ubuntu-desktop
meta-package to install all the packages that should be there for
Ubuntu.

Tony, I think your user account is b0rked!

Perhaps send a screenshot to me.  I wonder where the kosher place is to
send screenshots as I'm guessing it's not the list?

Right click on the panel and choose "Add to panel...".  Scroll down to
the Utilities section and add the "Main menu".

Once you have done that, try adding a new user and logging in as the new
user.  See if their desktop looks like the default should.  I can send
you a screenshot if you like.
