Whew... After several hours of browsing and chatting about wallpapers,
we've made some notes about *most* of Pascal's suggestions. (we ran
out of energy near the end. we'll finish tomorrow). If you have
anything to add, subtract or comment on, keep an eye on the IRC
channel throughout the day tomorrow.

Ubuntu SVG Artwork - http://www.volvoguy.net/ubuntu
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Art, like morality, consists of drawing the line somewhere. ~ G.K. Chesterton
-------------- next part --------------
Note: I've basically gone through this, browsed GNOME-Look.org, the artwork on ubuntuforums.org and art.ubuntu.com for possible candidates and added them and their respective URLs the list where appropriate. This is just a suggestion for possible choices, simply because the deadline is in fact tomorrow, and we really need to do something! As soon as possible.
Alrighty, happy browsing.

#Wallpapers
#=================
#Calender:
# The six calender wallpapers should have a
# common red thread - maybe even a history.
#
Not sure who exactly wanted to do these, though I saw that Mikkel Kamstrup Erlandsen had some nice ideas.
Anyone else?
#
#Shipped:
# Three or four _really_ different wallpapers.
# Not just the ubuntu logo in different layouts.
# Maybe targeting different user groups. Suggested
# types of wallpapers:
# - Children (Colours, cute cartoons. As a last resort we could use one from Edubuntu)
# - Teenagers (Go for cool factor. See fx. http://art.ubuntu.com/images/backgrounds/Ubuntu-UbuntuGlasses_1600x1200.jpg)
# - Abstract (like http://art.ubuntu.com/download/backgrounds/ubuntu/3/swirls.svg)
# - Realistic (a reworked photo or something)
Alright, I'll give this a go. All of the following are either in 1600x1200 (thus resizeable to smaller versions) or in SVG:
Children:
'Child's Play' [!!!!]: http://art.ubuntu.com/backgrounds/ubuntu/44
- we like
'Back to the nature': http://art.ubuntu.com/backgrounds/ubuntu/28
- logo conflicts?
'Breezy Badger Cool (BBC) for Ubuntu 5.10': http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=23218
- we like
'Breezy Badger': http://art.ubuntu.com/backgrounds/ubuntu/50
- waiting for SVG's with trans backgrounds
- following discussion from the mailing list, we are awaiting the SVG for this piece by Nikolai Dunkel.
Teenagers:
'Ubuntu': http://ubuntuforums.org/gallery/showimage.php?i=302&c=5
- we like
'Ubuntu': http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=22500
- no go. logo trademark issues.
'UbuntuGlasses': http://art.ubuntu.com/backgrounds/ubuntu/1
- no go. too many licensing issues.
'Bubbles': http://ubuntuforums.org/gallery/showimage.php?i=591&c=5
- we like (mostly) :o)
Abstract:
'Ubuntu Breezy Badger-mouse' (one without the creature!): http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=28693
- we like IF - fix lozenge and potential transparency, possibly eliminate "breezy badger" text
'Swirl': http://art.ubuntu.com/backgrounds/ubuntu/3
- we like
'Basse': http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=29526
- we like IF - fix lozenge and potential transparency
'Ubuntu Clean': http://art.ubuntu.com/backgrounds/ubuntu/23
- we like - possibly add alpha transparency
'Three Ubuntu Wallpapers' [SVG]: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=29567
- we like - possibly add transparency. *contact author about calendar images?* use my snowflakes for calendar imaage?
'Ubuntu': http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=21125
- we like
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=29134
- we like. would be nice to contact the author about SVG and/or transparent version.
http://www.volvoguy.net/ubuntu/squares.png @ (http://www.volvoguy.net/ubuntu/)
- we like
http://www.volvoguy.net/ubuntu/screenglobesmall.png @ (http://www.volvoguy.net/ubuntu/)
- maybe, with some modifications
Realistic (photography:
'African Pottery': http://ubuntuforums.org/gallery/showimage.php?i=615&c=5
- we like, but the logo is blurry, possibly due to jpg artifacts. a keeper if the author can fix the blurry logo.
'Ubuntubeach': http://ubuntuforums.org/gallery/showimage.php?i=264&c=5
- we like. should be updated with the new ubuntu font.
'Ubuntu Mantis background': http://ubuntuforums.org/gallery/showimage.php?i=871&c=5
- we don't think we like. blurry logo. big bug. we don't want bugs in breezy. :)
'Ubuntu Sun': http://ubuntuforums.org/gallery/showimage.php?i=372&c=5
- no go. jagged logo, political tagline, poor photo.
'Ubuntu Flower': http://ubuntuforums.org/gallery/showimage.php?i=527&c=5
- while slightly busy, we like. "linux for human beings" could also be added, but not necessary.
'Ubuntu Flower closeup': http://art.ubuntu.com/backgrounds/ubuntu/16
- we like. the logo could be a big darker and moved out of the corner a bit though.
'Real badger': http://ubuntuforums.org/gallery/showimage.php?i=838&c=5
- no go. nice idea, but this image just doesn't pull it off.
http://art.ubuntu.com/backgrounds/ubuntu/52
- we like it. and not just because kamstrup made it. :)
Others (!!!highly recommended to be perhaps added!!!):
'Arms around the earth' [shadowed]: http://www.volvoguy.net/ubuntu/arms-around-the-earth-shadow.svg
'Arms around the earth': http://www.volvoguy.net/ubuntu/arms-around-the-earth.svg
'The original ubuntu medicine mask': http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=22373
'Dawn of Ubuntu': http://art.ubuntu.com/backgrounds/ubuntu/39
'New Clearlooks Wallpaper': http://ubuntuforums.org/gallery/showimage.php?i=922&c=5

#Desktop Theme
#=================
#Whether or not a whole theme is likely to be accepted for Breezy is
#questionable. Maybe we should stick to Andys icons for Breezy. If
#we do want to create one we need the following
#
# - Metacity Theme (Window borders)
# I suggest Pilgrim
# (see http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=13305)
#
# - GTK Theme (Controls)
# Engine should be Clearlooks. Tweak gtkrc.
#
# - Icon Theme
# Humility, Andy Fitzsimon.
# ? Does he/you want a revision team or help.
#
#
#GDM Theme
#=================
# ? Defer
#
Other suggestions to be added (there can be several shipped, IIRC):
'Ubuntu GNU/Linux Greeter': http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=23920
'BluBuntu': http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=28852
'Ubuntu-Smooth-GDM': http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=28939
'GDM Ubuntix butterfly theme': http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=26937
'Ubuntu Human User-list': http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=22926
'Ubuntu World': http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=24719
#
#GNOME Splash
#=================
# ? Who did the one for Hoary ?
#
Currently only as a mockup. A full screen splash (can this be even done, technically?):
http://img344.imageshack.us/my.php?image=breezysplash018vz.png
Otherwise, if we don't want to stick with the one from Hoary:
'Ubuntu World': http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=23943
'chocolate splash screen - ubuntu': http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=18027
#
#Forums/Webpages
#=================
# ? Should reflect default breezy theme (out of our scope)
#
?

#Flyers
#======
#Create flyers to hand out at LUG meetings/conferences/with CDs.
#There might be two or three different flyers, for different target
#audience. Could contain
# - Explanation of the "Free Software Philosophy".
# - What does "Ubuntu" mean.
# - How to use live-cd and installation cd. Thoroughly explain
# the differences.
# - What software is included in the installation
# - A _really_ short introduction to the GNOME desktop
# - More ?
#
The art team could possibly do this, after the rest of the artwork.
#Posters
#=======
#There are people out there who actually have acces to /&%@£$! printers.
#Why don't we take advantage of that and create some real Ubuntu posters?
#
Same as the Flyers.
#
#Website Buttons
#=======
##Select a few and promote (or suggest) them as the official Ubuntu buttons.
#This could do well as a "competition" where the art team declares the winner
#and presents it as candidate for official button(s).
#
Unless we want more, we can draw these from here:
