They're not, they're more like adware. On Windows, it's adware
scanners that zap the tracking cookies. (They go for the common case,
i.e. IE and Firefox.)

But for the default Ubuntu install, there's only Firefox.
AdBlockPlus in Firefox strikes me as the best solution for the
common-case user. I don't know if it's worth packaging with Firefox.
Certainly it would create a tremendous fuss. ("Canonical is run by
anti-free-enterprise communists, who happen to be billiionaires! Hold
on, I'll come in again ...")
