¿Could you help summarizing a list of free/open content available in a
Ubuntu distribution, CD + repositories? This means almost everything
that is not the software source code.
i.e.
- Yelp documents + man pages
- HTML / PDF / other formats tutorials or books (i.e. Dive into Python,
a whole GIMP manual, etc) somewhere in the filesystem
- Pixmaps, icons, clipart
- Pictures
- Sound files
- What else?
I remember some discussions about locating these contents more
transparently to the user... Any link provided is useful too.
We don't need a detailed file-par-file list but it would be good to
locate the main resources, where to look... This kind of tips for
helping discover to users all the content they have in a Ubuntu CD,
somewhere in their own filesystem and down in the repositories, just a
coupl of clicks away.
I need to send *today* a chapter about free culture for the Guadalinex
(Ubuntu derivative) user guide - http://guias-ubuntu.ourproject.org/ .
The chapter explains the open/free licensing stuff, where to look for
free content in the Internet (we've got a bunch of resources but feel
free to send also URLs) and we want to suggest also to dive in the hard
drive and the repositories.
Thank you.
