Why Ubuntu isn't for New Linux Users

The solution described here would indeed solve the problem if it did all 
the work (download/configure/install) instead of merely bringing up a 
wiki for those things that are not available via apt get.

I will indeed get with the maintainer and see what help I can be.  This 
is promising, though not as immediately useful as other options.  In the 
long run, this solution would require less expertise than the EasyUbuntu 
approach (which required the user to actively select the appropriate 
options).  So, this is a better approach that what I had envisioned.  
Now all we have to do is to get it workable and into the distro.
