Recently, in a response to one of your emails, I posted you a link to a
specification started by the lead Ubuntu GNOME maintainer. This
specification has the aim of making it easy to install multimedia codecs
when they are absent from Totem or other applications. The same
reasoning would apply to browsers+java.
So, talking to the wind isn't necessary: go ahead and contribute to the
spec. For convenience, I'll post it again:
