If you love Expeditions, how can you hate Fords?
There are a lot of people who like Ubuntu because of the things it
chooses to do different than Debian, as well as a lot who love it
because of the things it chooses to do the same. For that matter, there
are rather a lot who love it for both reasons.
One can love what Debian stands for, and dislike (or possibly even hate)
how they execute that vision. One in that position can love Ubuntu.
As for the ability love Debian and hate Ubuntu; that possibility should
be self-evident. There are people who think Debian ought to be as
successful as Ubuntu is becoming, and are jealous of our success. There
are people who believe that Ubuntu's execution includes decisions that
their own morality considers to be questionable.
If everybody loved Debian, there wouldn't be a need for Ubuntu. But as
a great American thinker once said, there's a reason why ice cream shops
don't just stock chocolate and vanilla; every once in a while, somebody
orders butter pecan.
