Debian never worked for me, it crashed already at the
installer, booting ancient drivers, so I never got to
test it. Mepis (also based on Debian ) worked well
until I installed the Nvidia driver (Wich I need so my
grpxcard will not sound like a "747"), then it crashed
the X server every time at booting up the computer, so
it was back to square one again. After different
flavours of non Debianbased Linuxes I ended on Ubuntu
a couple of weeks ago, I am definately going to stay
Ubuntu, as long as it is non-commercially available.
