Here's an idea that saves swapping CDs:
i)  hooking up the Ubuntu computer to your Windows XP via a route
ii) booting the live CD on the Windows XP computer
iii) squirt the files on the WinXP drive over to the Ubuntu drive.

With the live CD (Haory?) does clicking on Places show your hard drive 
(maybe hda1?)
