Queries - Alljoyn over Thread

Dear all,

I intend to use a Beaglebone Black with Snappy OS to act as a gateway and
interact with smart plugs to control the ON/Off  of the devices.

       -  We are interested in using Alljoyn over Thread to make an
automatic discovery of the electrical appliances. Which are the Snappy OS
advantages in comparison with Debian OS regards this matters?

       -  Do you have any technical information you could share with us ?
¿Do we have to change the firmware on the beagle bone?
