Since you were replying to him, that makes no sense at all.
In #ubuntu-devel you were either contributing to development or off topic. I
don't think there way you were OK on this one.
Personally, I think you are pushing the limits and disrespecting the MC's
decision.
I'd say Hobbsee's actions were perfectly appropriate in enforcing what the MC
has asked you to do.
In the past you've agreed to do many things and not done them and this seems
to continue.
