Haven't been exactly following the thread, but have you been able to boot a
"live" DVD or USB of whatever system that are then trying to install?  Or,
you are just "installing"??  Usually I test out the system . . . and if you
can get to a GUI before installing it, that might be indicative of
installer issues???  And, then test around for what distro/flavor
boots/runs in "live" . . . or figure out what boot params you might need .
. . then, try an install of what runs in "live" . . . is my general advice
. . . .  Rather that than re-writing all kinds of files while trying to get
it installed . . . keeping it simple on the install is "better" . . . .
