Jack:

Haven't been exactly following the thread, but have you been able to boot a "live" DVD or USB of whatever system that are then trying to install? Or, you are just "installing"?? Usually I test out the system . . . and if you can get to a GUI before installing it, that might be indicative of installer issues??? And, then test around for what distro/flavor boots/runs in "live" . . . or figure out what boot params you might need . . . then, try an install of what runs in "live" . . . is my general advice . . . . Rather that than re-writing all kinds of files while trying to get it installed . . . keeping it simple on the install is "better" . . . .

F

On Wed, Jun 1, 2016 at 2:14 PM, Jack Craig <jack.craig.aptos@gmail.com> wrote:

this is an asus eeepc 1000. after following the above, running a lot of updates

finishing with creating a new initrd.img. i386, intel

still same problem, headed back to grub,...

On Wed, Jun 1, 2016 at 2:01 PM, Simon Quigley <tsimonq2@ubuntu.com> wrote:

To help further diagnose, what you are waiting for is the startup of
