Use FireGPG that can be combined with gmail under Ubuntu.

Matthias is a helpsome guy, but you have to play it the safe way.

Sign the Code of Conduct and get your GPG running and then send him an
email. You will learn a bit about cryptography (how it works in
practice) and Matthias will be more than thrilled to help you ;)

I had the same issue, so I know what I'm saying.
