Fwd: Ubuntero.org - LoCo Participation

Just for information/interest.

I don't really know what I think about this, my immediate reaction is
that the community doesn't need *another* meeting place to follow
discussions (it's already difficult to keep up with the mailing lists
and forums) and that having yet another place to follow is going to be
impossible for me, and likely to cause division in the members of the
community.

What do others think?

Dear Matthew EastWe want to let you know about Ubuntero.org, a new
open social network created by and for the Ubuntu community. This
message is a brief introduction to Ubuntero.org and an invitation to
the Italy LoCo to join the Ubuntero.org Community.

We envision the participation of LoCo communities to be essential to
the growth and success of the Ubuntero community. We would like to
encourage you to take a look at the site, poke around and see what's
possible. If you like what you see, we want to encourage you to
create a community for your LoCo and to encourage your members to sign
up, to create profiles, and to join your LoCo community on the site.

For an example of what this looks like, here is a link to the
community for the Pennsylvania LoCo (http://ubuntero.org/locopa) on
the site. Each LoCo community can have its own blog, track events,
post personal and / or community pictures and media, and much more. I
feel it's important to point out that we are not attempting to
supersede any existing communication you have, but think this could be
a nice addition to LoCo members' interaction with one another. For
some example user profiles, you can see the profiles for the Ubuntero
Admins, Andrew (http://ubuntero.org/andrew), Edwin
(http://ubuntero.org/edwin), Oscar ( http://ubuntero.org/omcantu), and
myself, Ken (http://ubuntero.org/dchosenb).

Let us know what you think, and please send us any comments /
questions you have.

 Best regards,
 Ken Wilson Ubuntero.org Admin
