Display switching with Asus in X with Dapper

Hi there

I'm having problems getting the display switching to work. First, I
had manually create ACPI event scripts to handle the Display Switch
-hotkey (Fn+F8). Scripts work fine in console. It switches from LCD to
CRT to LCD+CRT and back.

Problem is, that when I start X with monitor attached, the display
defaults to CRT monitor. If the monitor is unattached, it defaults to
LCD. However, in either case, pressing Fn+F8 has no effect: If the
display is on CRT, the screen just flashes but nothing comes on the
LCD screen. If the display is on LCD, it dims out and nothing happens
on CRT. Only solution at this point to get the picture back on the LCD
is to change to another VC and back (for example, pressing alt+ctrl+f1
and alt+ctrl+f7). The picture is back on LCD, but not on the monitor.

If I switch from X to console, the picture stays on LCD and I'm able
to switch it to CRT too with Fn+f8. So my script works, but the X not.

Anyone else having similiar problems and perhaps solutions to them?

My laptop is Asus V6J, some notes can be found on
