I don't know where you get the idea there are NO upgrades for LTS
for two years.  I have been sticking with LTS for a short while and
when I do: apt-get dist-upgrade
I get upgrades, it just doesn't upgrade me out of the LTS version.
In "Software Sources", tab "Updates", under "Release upgrade", I have
selected "Long term support releases only".
So, you can still get upgrades within the release version and it doesn't
mess with your settings.
