Kmail2 was pretty stable when I first installed 12.04 but since then there may 
have been an update that makes it crash a lot.

Weird isn't the word for it.  Sometimes when kmail2 starts up, the filters 
will be working fine but most time they don't work at all.  It varies back and 
forth from working to not working.  That's strange behavior!
