can not save openoffice spreadsheets in libreoffice

Thanks for the reply,
I have removed the hidden openoffice folder and renamed .libreoffice.
I then uninstalled libreoffice and reinstalled.
Opened one of the spreadsheets, made a change, went to save and the program 
just shutdown - same as before.
I just don't know what to do next.
