can not save openoffice spreadsheets in libreoffice

If I were in your place I'd first try renaming the hidden libreoffice 
folder inside your home folder. If that does not help then perhaps 
completely removing libreoffice and then reinstalling it would work. You 
could perhaps also check if you still have an old .openoffice.org folder 
left after the upgrade, rename/remove that as well if you have it.
