Kubuntu/Ubuntu does not remove everything from memory at shutdown

1) I am using a SoundBlaster Audigy LE.
2) Kunbuntu is using kernel 2.6.31-20.
3) Mandriva 2010.0 is using kernel 2.6.31.6 and sound driver CA106.
