Kubuntu/Ubuntu does not remove everything from memory at shutdown

a few things that might help us narrow this problem down:
1) What soundcard are you using
2) What kernel version is Kubuntu using
3) What kernel version is Mandiva using
That way we might be able to narrow down what might be different between the
Kubuntu and Mandiva behaviors
